Ultra compact (compare to the travel-sized medicine bottle in pictures) but solid European-made 2-input line-level (i.e. not phono) preamp with remote and 12V trigger to turn on downstream amplifiers. (Can also be remotely turned on by 12V trigger, I think. I never tried it, though. I have used the 12V output to turn on a Parasound Zamp v3 and a Pro-Ject Amp Box SE.)

The Pre Box is ideal for a system using two sources. Say, a DAC and a phono preamp.
I'm not aware of many analog stereo preamps that include 12V triggers and remote control of all major functions (power, input, and volume) at this price. Or this size. It is also very quiet, even with 96dB/W/m speakers on the other end of the amp. For those interested in subjective reviews of solid state electronics,
here's one on the Pre-Box. Some choice quotes from that review:
" The Pre Box offered clean, clear, and grain free sound without a hint of the harshness one might expect from inexpensive solid state gear. As a matter of fact, the Pre Box sounded better than it had any right to, and was even quieter than some preamps I have heard costing five times as much. Maybe less is more."
"The Pre Box was a total pleasure to operate, with the volume knob as smooth as butter, instant switching between the two available inputs, and zero mechanical noise. *** The remote control unit had all you need -- power on or off, volume up or down, and input selection. "
"I loved the Head Box II and Pre Box. So much so I am purchasing both for my own use.***"

I purchased it sometime after
I sold a Teac A-H01 integrated amp here on AudioCircle. (Yes, I like compact electronics.) It's no longer needed because I decided to move my turntable back to the main system, so the bedroom system only has one source with its own volume control (Apple AirPort Express).
The Pre Box will ship "2.5x boxed" (outer shipping carton, factory posterboard sleeve, factory cardbord box) with factory external power-supply, remote, manual, etc.
