Was thinking of idle power needed with the amp and pre amp plugged in

170W for the 4BSST2.  The BP-26 preamp manual does not give the power consumption specs, but says to check the label attached to the bottom cover.  However, I suspect that it may only give maximum power consumption, not idle consumption.

(Because many of the Bryston hyperlinks to technical documents include square brackets, they are not recognized properly by this forum software (and perhaps other forum software) and won't work when inserted into a post.)

The P3 International Kill A Watt monitors are useful low cost tools to determine actual power consumption for all of your electrical components and appliances.

Kill A Watt 4400  -  ~ $18

Kill A Watt 4460  -  ~ $27  (adds battery backup and programmable electric rate for operating cost)

I connected the mute trigger output of my BP26/MPS2 to the trigger input of my 3BSST². So when I mute the preamp the power amp turn off. In this way I avoid the idling power consumption of the amp itself. But my preamp stays on and keeps it temperature.
If been thinking to connect a motion sensor to the trigger input of the poweramp So it would power down when no motion is detected for for example 4 hours,...
