Dukane 1A435B Schematic
« on: 1 Mar 2013, 04:01 am »
I recently resurfaced an interest in Tube amps, and dug throught the gatrage to find an old DuKane 1A435B power amp. It needs some TLC, and i wondered if anyone might have a schematic thay would be willing to make a copy of for me. I'd be willing to part with a little cash, if necessary, but not too much -- my tinkering is low on the priority for $$ right now.

I'd appreciate any hints, as well -- especially on the CAP values -- the originals are almost dust from the humidity... I'll post a pic if I can find my camera cable.

I never could find the schematic on these myself.....the larger 1A475 is out there on the internet, but it's not exactly a clone of the smaller 435B I'm told.

I'm no techie regardless, so when I got these 5-6 years ago from a chap in Wisconsin that had pulled them from a school outside of Milwaukee....I simply brought them down to the local hi-fi tech (that is a McIntosh shop).  When I brought them in they told me it's usually not worth working on these ebay finds.....but they looked quickly at the trannies and said these may be worthwhile.

They recapped, biased and made sure all connections were secure and hooked them up to their Tannoy full ranger they use for evaluation of amps at the store.  The tech called me when done and told me these guys are terrific and everyone in the shop was floored by how they sounded.

It took me 2 minutes to put my Odyssey Khartago uber-mono amps up for sale after hearing these when they came back.  On the advice of a knowledgeable person I changed out the (always crappy sounding) 12AU7's to something else (12BT7's maybe?? Can't remember) and it boosted the performance up another notch.

Great little amps - they can be bought so cheap when you find them on ebay, too.  A $ few hundred later in the hands of a good tech and these guys offer some of the highest value I can think of in push-pull tube amps.

Yes, they drive Maggies to deafening levels, folks  :thumb:

Here's the 435a. Not sure what the difference is between the A and B  ...hopefully not much

I'm not sure what this is, but it is a much simpler circuit than the 1A435B.

I'll have to look it over more carefully, but at first glance, it looks like an oscillator, maybe a radio transmitter?

Thanks for your submission, it is interesting nonetheless.

That's is an amp from a call station. Like for a nurse station or switchboard type set up - I used to do Dukane warranty service back when dinosaurs roamed the earth......
