Thanks to all so far for many interesting suggestions - definitely a eye opener for me. The main goal for my room renovation was to get a few extra feet between my audio system and sitting location. As you can see by the photo below, my listening location was vey close to the JBLs due to my desk placement - desk is to the right off the chair.

The previous owners had constructed a walk in closet for this room and although they did do a nice job, was just a waste of space for my application. As you can see, with the wall removed and a new back wall constructed, my room gained enough space to comfortably house my desk, 1250+ CD rack and a book case. This allows the removal of all furniture from my listening/audio side of the room. I opted to drop the ceiling to give a two room in one sensation without a "physical" barrier and when I stand in the addition, it feels secluded and comfortable, even though it is not enclosed.

Wall speakers are not an option in my "mini studio" as I wanted to optimize my CD storage and bookshelf space and there is no room for this type of speaker - also they would be out of place for my room motif - finally a room to match my personality. Ceiling speakers will have the least visual impact and can be "camouflaged" if they prove to be too conspicuous. I do not want to have speakers on top of my desk, so they are also not an option. Sound quality from my computer is not important to me - sound quality is the responsibility of the Bryston/JBL/Esoteric audio gear.

No room at each side of the CD shelf for speakers - rack has 125 CDs on one shelf. I was cautious of this many CDs in open view so the CD shelf was located so you do not see a wall full of CDs when you walk into the room or if you are sitting down listening to music.

Further suggestions most welcome

Be well...
