Sad day today
« on: 23 Feb 2013, 05:19 pm »
Went to power on my Insight 440 after a 2 week long trip to DC, and nothing. No red light, no nothing. Unplugged the amp, checked the fuses, they look factory fresh to me. Plugged it into a few different outlets, still nothing. I think a trip to Frank is in order. Sent him an email this morning.

Sometimes a fuse can fail in a way that is not apparent to the eye, a break near the end cap... You might want to hit with a meter, or try a new fuse... Sorry if this is considered obvious...

First, remove the cover and replace the internal 10 or 12 amp slo blow main system fuse.  This fuse is located on the bottom of the chassis near the big power transformer edge.  Sometimes these will fail just from old age.

Make sure the amp is unplugged from AC when working on it!

The fuse is probably has a white ceramic body and you can't tell it is blown without checking it with an ohmmeter or just by replacing it.

If a second fuse blows again quickly then we will need to see the amp for service.
