Hi Marius,

So I hooked up a BDA-1 to a BDP-1 and found the culprit, the digital output is on a different section.  This issue has already come up to support third party DAC's that we would need to develop additional software to detect different audio configuration.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Marius

I do not want to list the Juli card anymore as we make modifications to it currently and are moving more and more to other options.

James

Great ! Exciting new options await us!

Cheers,
Marius

Hi Marius,

Good news the BDA-1 will work through uSB, however the bad news is it won't work due to the current mpd configuration.  But I will see about releasing a version down the road that will allow this.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi Chris,
just to confirm my BDP-1 is working via USB to BDA-1,  - I believe you wrote it wouldn't?
Firmware S1.65 2013-01-30
MPD Ver 0.17.2
SPDIF and USB outputs enabled on mPad

I cannot hear any difference when I switch between the USB and the AES/EBU inputs on the BDA-1.

Regards
Richard

Hi James

Bryston BDA-1

Hi Richard

OK so you are not using the USB asynchonous feature available in the BDA-2 USB and you would be limited to 44.1 16Bit.  Still nice to know you are getting output with the new software.  Will wait for Chris to comment as well.

I submit we should start a new trend, where instead of auditioning cables, fuses, shakti stones and other classic audiophile paraphernalia, we audition various versions of software, and comment on the pinpoint imaging of Beta 2.13 or the fast, tight bass of Beta 2.18....

Hi Richard,

The current firmware S1.65 doesn't output to a bDA-1 via USB, but it's possible with the addition of some software to detect audio output devices (like a BDA-1 connected via USB) to allow this capabity.  Currently there isn't support but there isn't anything stopping us from making it a reality with the BDA-1.  We are just contemplating how Togo about it, should it be a script that just creates entries for any audio devices that are connected or create a menuing system allow customers to pick and choose.

Cheers,
Chris

I installed the new firmware, and hooked up a USB cable from the BDP-2 to my SP3.

Switched my SP3 to USB and

the song played just fine.....
