Dual Channels nCore Enclosure Plan
« on: 13 Mar 2013, 02:03 pm »
Hello all,

I finished the dual channel nCore enclosure design after days of discussing with several DIYers. Specs are:

Dimension: WxDxH = 250x308x70
Power supply: SMPS400x2, or SMPS600x1
Audio Amp power: NC400x2
Power input: IEC
Audio input: XLRx2(16mm dia.), RCAx2 (8mm dia.)
Audio output: DINx4 (10mm dia)
Material: High quality aluminum alloy
Surface finish: silkscreen, sand blaster, hard anodized
Body color: black
Front panel color: Black or silver
Laser logo: Yes

I will make a small batch if there're 20pcs demands. There're already 8pcs pre ordered, so if there're 12 posts followed these nice cases will rock.

The price is about $90 w/o shipping, weight around 2kg. If no venting slot on top cover the price can be several $ lower.

If you need one just follow this post. when the qty reach 20 I will setup a order link at Siliconray's website  for ordering

I assembled eight mono Ncore Silicon ray chassis.  Siliconray are excellent chassis makers and have great service.  The chassis are above expectation at their price point, superb value.  All appropriate holes are threaded, obviating the need for nuts/washers.  Personally I would recommend paying the very reasonable fee for the Ncore logo on the faceplate, adding a finished product look.  The black anodizing and aluminum quality is above expectation at Siliconray prices.  The finish does not easily scratch off with minor accident.

The cooling slots are highly recommended for this chassis.

The only quibble I had with the mono chassis, which did NOT affect performance in any way:
XLR two mounting screws rotated about 40-degrees counterclockwise from position for vertical XLR mounting...result is the XLR was turned a bit from vertical.
I liked the large and soft rubber feet, but the mounting screws were located such that the feet protruded 3mm outside the vertical side panel edge...the good news is the wider stance made the narrower mono chassis more stable.

For readers desiring Ncore but not wanting to build them, I charge $150 to assemble this chassis or two mono blocks, plus shipping and insurance averaging $37 ($17 shipping, $20 insurance) to 48 states...will ship worldwide.  Customers can assign shipping to my address when they order all necessary parts including this chassis.  I will email customer tracking number within two business days after I receive all necessary parts.  I only briefly test amps for five minutes or so, such is Ncore reputation for reliability.

Would not this exact chassis be appropriate for bridged mono?  Mono amp would have one unused XLR hole on the rear panel.

SR charges very reasonable fee for Ncore logo engraved on front panel, which I recommend for finished product look rather than simple DIY.

Thanks James, your design of mono chassis is excellent. I will try to fix the problems in this version.

For the first 20pcs, every one can engrave a personalized logo or even an photo on the front panel by our unique direct laser image printing technology for free, something like this:

Some member said they want to use SMPS1200 instead of 2xSMPS400. so I redesigned the enclosure for both configuration. DIYers can mount either one SMPS1200 or two SMPS400.

What about 2 x SMPS600? Will they fit?

the room is enough for 2xsmps600. just need to drill some holes.
