First reflection panels

I found the 1st reflection points for my left and right speakers; after marking the wall and when I hang the panels there will be about a 12" gap between the 2 panels on each side wall. Should I push the panels together so there is no gap as long as the panels cover the reflection points by say 6 or center the panels and leave the gap between the panels?

Any chance you can just prop them up against the walls and experiment?

Not sure I follow 100%...

So you found the left and right reflection on both sides, so 4 spots, correct?

If so, that is highly likely the best place for them.   Also, a gap between absorption can give you a bit of diffusion  -- although 12" is on the wide side.

Thanks for the reply's; I used the mirror trick to find the left and right speaker reflection points so yes there are 4 spots. I could lean the panels up against the wall or I can move the panels closer together to lessen the gap between the panels.

Right, db.  So, what do you prefer doing that?  That's good info from Traderxfan, IMO.

If the panel is still in the reflection spot (where the mirror shows the speaker) then you should be fine.
You can use the following program to test the room and view the ETC to make sure it is actually in the right spot and covering enough area. (if you know how to view the test)

Also we did a video on early reflection points

Glenn,

I reviewed your video and it was helpful, I need to read up on the REW program.
