I think this movie will get seen on DVD , Net Flix, etc., as it was nominated for 4 academy awards and won a bunch of others .

It's been out on DVD for at least a couple of weeks.  Definitely worth watching as a glimpse into an alternative culture.  I've got some property far out into the Texas desert just outside the ghost town of Terlingua.  Many of the natives around there remind me of some of the indepedent minded, not quite sober, swamp/delta folk of the "southern wild".  Interesting flick.  Check it out.

yep. and it's the debut for the director which is amazing and they made it on a shoestring budget. the main actor's story is great too. but the really cool thing is we've all gotten used to child actors/actresses that seem older than their years but THIS is something to see. not a great "child actress" just an amazing actress period and she's FREAKING FIVE  :o

I've been meaning to make time to watch this one as my sister-in-law's serious boyfriend was one of the producers.

Maybe I'll make time this weekend.

I did see it on netflix a couple of weeks ago and was disappointed after reading the reviews and seeing the promotion hype.  It was an interesting observation in to that alternative slice of life.  I just found it a little too unfocused and wandering in an unclear direction.  The child actress did a great job.

Fwiw, at that same time I also watched "Moonrise Kingdom" which I thought was awesome and may have had too critical of expectations for b.o.t.s.w.

I have "The Master" silver disc ready to spin this weekend.
