Following the sale of Thiel and the departure of the Kentucky company's cofounder Kathy Gornik at the end of November 2012, the Thiel display at the Sands Convention Center was packed. It was also reassuring to see many of the company's long-term employees on hand, confirming the new CEO Bill Thomas's commitment to preserving the brand's ethos.

In the dem room, I auditioned the new CS2.7, which combines the coaxial HF/MF unit from the well-regarded CS3.7 with a hard-anodized woofer loaded with an elliptical passive radiator. Run full-range, but assisted below 35Hz with a pair of SS-2 subwoofers and driven by Bryston amplification and the Canadian company's new BDA-2 media server, the sound on a Bill Frisell recording was rich and clean. The distinction between the similarly pitched electric bass and double bass on one of Brian Bromberg's tributes to Jaco Pastorius was well-preserved.

The Best Audio Demos at CES 2013

By Robert Archer, January 17, 2013

Bryston and Thiel Audio teamed up once again to deliver a great two-channel demo of high resolution audio through the company’s latest products the BDA-2 DAC and companion BDP-2 digital audio music player.

Thiel also showcased its new CS2.7 loudspeakers, which were first launched in October 2012. Together the combination of Bryston electronics and Thiel speakers produced a crystal clear image that was fast and detailed.

Considering how crazy the pricing in the audiophile world can get, these companies showed that with a reasonable investment, reference level sound quality can be obtained.

Hi James

One question please, if you look at your reply #7 on 1st page with all the pictures ,and scroll down on 4rth picture ,there against the wall are displayed a lot of Bryston components in silver, from left to right the second item is a BDP-2/BDA2 (I imagine) behind the BDP-2 on top there is a holder on stand that secures a tablet (ipad mini?) in viewing position. I love it !!! You can see it again on 6th picture  close to the  green plant in the corner of the room at the end. Is this holder commercially available? where can we buy something like that?
Thanks
Regards
George

If Bryston didn't team up with Axiom for the speaker project, Axiom would still oblivious to most on this forum.

Y'know, I look at those photos and then I look at my stuff and it seems almost sensible by comparison. Then I leave the room, come back, look at my system and think: " Nope, that's still crazy..."  :green:

There are many great audio products oblivious to some on this forum...so should we then judge performance and quality based on that one parameter?  I will classify Bryston as a rather successfully company which has done just about done everything right.  Including teaming up with Axiom.

Correct, Bryston is a classy company and I am glad you also feel this way. The performance and quality play major roles in my decision making as they should.

No, you insulted James and the good name of Bryston. I was merely agreeing with the man. Sorry you don't like it. :D
