This refers to a Tweet put out by Amanda Palmer. Her words as follows ...

"New music weekend? The WHOLE DRESDEN DOLLS discography is on this torrent site. I wrote these songs, please take them... http://t.co/5OedwNd2 "

If need be I can prove that this is honest. For those that are Twitter enabled you can find the comment made  on 19 January. You will have to look for it because she is a Twitter monster. The prime two links aren't working at the moment but there are working links there. While you are at it it you have her blessing to download her latest from "Theatre is Evil by Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra" found at http://music.amandapalmer.net/ She is a dedicated to the patronage model of the artist / fan relationship. Meaning that if you like what you hear then she knows some of you will choose to be patrons of what they do.

I hope some of you will really enjoy some of what is offered. I believe the picks are the first two Dresden Dolls (self titled and Yes, Virginia) and both of her Amanda Palmer releases. I find that Amanda Palmer is more than the music that she produces and has a lot to say. I recommend searching out some of her youTube and Vimeo videos to get a better picture of what she is about. Very interesting woman.

Enjoy

Mmm, don't believe everything you read.

IMHO, I feel that the article started from the position as one who was offended from the notion and developed the argument from there. They just can't get past that 1.2 million dollar tab associated with her kickstarter project. I will volunteer that I am an Amanda Palmer patron. It's entirely possible that I error on the side of being naive. Considering that the alternative is to error on the side of cynical, as I feel this article has, then I am OK with that. If you wish to find out for yourself it's not that hard. She has made her professional and, for the most part, her private life an open journal for any who wish to read it. My argument is that if you watch someone long enough they will show you who they are eventually. Either Amanda Palmer is a devious and manipulative singer/songwriter or she just might be who she says she is. I'm fairly convinced it is the latter of the two. The crowdsourcing was a part of the show from early in the Dresden Dolls days and was never a thing until she overachieved with her kickstarter project. That's when she started to be held to a whole different standard. All of a sudden she's a 1%-er. (is that even a word?) I believe this took her by some surprise and has since changed her crowdsourcing policy to reflect this new reality. Sometimes the most important point isn't necessarily what you did but why you did it.

The reason I posted the link is I find her music meaningful to me. She got me seriously pondering the prose that structures the music again. You can never tell what bit of poetry might provide a fresh take on the human condition that you might find fascinating. Which is true for me in this case. There are two artists that I just fell for this past fall. One is Amanda Palmer and the other is Regina Spektor. I cannot help myself when it comes to these two women. And, BTW, Regina Spektor may be the sweetest human being on God's green earth. As far as I know anyway.

Que the indignation for referring to God in 5 ... 4 ... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...
