A real revelation
« on: 14 Aug 2007, 09:25 am »
Hello music lovers:

"I just gotta tell ya"

I have for years been blessed/cursed depending on how you look at it. My mother who played second chair second violins in the Chicago Symphony, for a treat, used to take me "as a wee bairn" to Dress Rehersal. I heard glorius music, played by a glorius Orchestra, in a glorius hall. Ever since then I have been driven to hear that sound engrained into my psyche.  I have never been impressed with CD sound from it's inception, compromising my hunger with Reel to Reel and vinyl, and searching for more.

So lately I have acquired a pair of Von Schweikert VR-2s and while breaking them in, I have also been blessed with a pair of Beveridge Model 3s (with the woofers removed). I have now connected one VR-2 (left) and one Beveridge 3(right) to a Sony TA-7200F power amp fed by an Adcom CD575, and I have changed my mind.

Such depth!(Bizet's Carmen by Telarc).
Such detail!(Debussy's Prelude a lapres-midi d'un faune by Telarc).
Such power! (Saint-Seans Organ Symphony Mercury living presence).
Such subtlety! Such transient responce!(Debussey's Danses Sacre et profane by Telarc) all most holographic!

I honestly did not know that was hidden in CDs. All it took was a CD treatment! Now I am almost there.

It shows in DVDs also. An overall improvement in video resolution, as well as better, more believable audio.

Just like to point out that you haven't said what kind of treatment you are applying to your discs.  Was that intentional or merely an oversight?  An aquaintence of mine in fabulous Ft. Worth, Texas has Beveridge Three's.  It was he who turned me onto the Mark Levinson label amongst other things.  That would be vinyl, however, of which I have acquired several.  And I loved the sound of his Beveridge's.  Welcome to the forum and what do you do as an industry participant?  Thanks.

Enthusiasm for the music as delivered by a decent stereo system! Isn't that what this hobby is supposed to be all about (but all too often forgotten by us)?

Keep up the enjoyment. Love to hear more about your discoveries.

Folks - my inclination is to move this topic somewhere else, but can't really figure out the topic of the original poster is.  CD / DVD treatments, something else?  So until that becomes more clear, I guess it will stay.

hmmm...  beveridge speakers, but w/no woofers.  then a v/s speaker on the left channel and the (wooferless) beveridge on the right?   :o   :duh:
