Anyone else love unplugged hard rock?

I was watching the Guitar Center Sessions with Slash and was sucked in to the ability for the music to convey strong emotion without having to be loud. I grew up loving all the typical rock bands but when I look at the songs I ultimately prefer, they tend to be the unplugged songs like Ramble On (Zeppelin), Dream on (Aerosmith), MTv unplugged Alice in Chains and Nirvana, Skin and Bones (Foo Fighters), Little Black Submarine(Black Keys)...

Scorpians- Acoustica dvd is very good. Cd is pretty good too but isn't as good as 48k.

If you like the Scorpians damn near every song is good on this album. 8)

It was always a sign of maturity for a budding Led Zeppelin fan when he began to appreciate the songs of "LZ III" past the "Immigrant Song."

Personally, I always loved the sound of Pete Townshend's maple-body Gibson SJ-200 on "Love Ain't for Keepin.'"  8)

Not usually a fan of unplugged, but there is one that I like quite a bit.

That is Pain of Salvation - 12:5.

These guys are one of the best progressive metal bands form Sweden. Their 'plugged' releases are full of emotion, complexity, world class musicianship.

They did this one unplugged release back in 2004. Great acoustic guitar playing, harpsichord, brushwork on the drums, and Daniel Gildenlow's emotion filled vocals. The harpsichord gives it a certain 'chamber music' feel without losing much of the metal power.

The cool thing about this, is that they just didn't play the original songs 'unplugged', but they rearranged them and added new parts. For example, the song 'Ashes', is originally a very dark song played in a minor chord. But in this reworking, the change it to a major key, giving it an almost gospel feel.
