Tympani .7s - Any Interest?
« on: 8 Jan 2013, 10:33 pm »
I'm sure that they've done their market research but just for fun:
Would you purchase a set?
and if so
What is the amount that you would be willing to pay for the product?

I'll got first:
No as I don't have the room for them.
I'll take a stab at pricing: north of 20 grand as that's an awful lot of time, material and labor going into them to say nothing of shipping costs.

I would pay the list price of my Tympani 1-Ds from 1980: $1395 the pair ...  :thumb:

I'd buy them in a second, if I could afford them. Which I wouldn't be able to right now, I'm not sure I'd be able to swing a pair of earbuds.

(Maybe somebody will explain to me why one little tooth costs $1500 to extract, $2200 for an implant, and $1500 for a crown? Because it just occurred to me that for the price of the four teeth I'm in the process of replacing, I could afford to pay even the price you mentioned.)

I would, but would need to move to a bigger place.

No interest in owning, but I'd love to hear them.

Judging by what he charges for implants, he can afford to pave his driveway with Tympanis.

I suspect the "gentler" sex pays more for, uh, implants.  And they don't have gold crowns............. :nono:

I'd love to see a Tympani .7.

I like the clean look of the Tympani panels without any wood or metal trim.

IMO, Six 16" x 72" panels, with mid/tweeter panels that could  be separated
from the bass panels would be easier to handle/ship/position than the big single panel models.

My 1-D's were surprisingly easy to move, when I was figuring out where they sounded best I used to grab them by the outer edges, fold the panels into sort of a "u" shape, and slide them every which way.
