SOLD TO pwag - Thank you very much, please enjoy them.I have a set of GR Research N2X monitors for sale.
http://gr-research.com/n2x.aspxI'm selling them for less than the price of the components (makes me sad). They've been installed and used for less than a year. They are beautiful sounding. Very balanced and non-exaggerated. Typical Danny Richie creation that is worth much more than they're sold for. I didn't use these nearly as much as I would have liked to, as they went into a listening room that I wasn't able to use very much over the past year. I've recently moved and have done away with having a listening room, and am going to be using the living room (needing floorstanders) for my new listening location.
I want these to go to a good home, as I put many hours into building them. I would like to sell to a local buyer (SF bay area) and avoid risking shipping them. They're in perfect working order and can be tested for functionality for buyers. I'm unable to set them up in a specific listening environment (no space), so no critical listening demos available.
Build Details
- They're built according to spec, using 3/4th inch MDF all around. Vertical edges are rounded over with a 3/4th inch bit, and the tops are chamfered with a 1/2 inch.
- Edges were sealed and filled using Rage Xtreme Gold filler.
- Wood was sealed using a shellac primer, then sanded with 400 grit sandpaper.
- Cabinets were then painted using a filler primer, then wetsanded with 600 grit sandpaper.
- They were then painted using automotive metallic acrylic enamel paint, in anthracite grey. This was mixed and shot from a HVLP gun for a beautiful finish. I have included a closeup of the paint below. The metallic flakes look great and I've gotten many positive comments by people in person about the paint.
- I painted the tweeter faces using paint that matches the woofer basket. This gets rid of the BG logo (looks cleaner)
