NAS Spacedeck and other NAS models owners
« on: 11 Dec 2012, 02:02 pm »
Would be interested to hear from people who own a Notts Analogue Spacedeck or any other NAS deck such as the Hyperspace etc, Ive recently brought one with a heavy upgrade kit on it and am totally smitten by it, its a wonderful deck. I currently use a Herbies way TT mate to good effect, seems to give a slightly smoother presentation with better layering and a deeper soundstage.

Has anyone done any tweaks at all or has anyone used any mats with their NAS decks?

Cheers

I have a Nottingham Interspace (2nd version w/metal platter) and used an Oracle Groove Isolator mat, or a Boston Audio Mat I, and also cut a cork mat 1/8 in thick which I used under the carbon fiber mat that came with the tt. Later I found that the plain metal platter sounded very good, in fact that was what Tom Fletcher recommended.
Last year I also acquired a Space 294 and am very happy using a Boston Audio Mat 2 on it.
I am sure you are getting wonderful music with yours!

Hi Lee,

I have the standard Space Deck w/AceSpace arm. I actually like the cheapy little foam mat that came with my table, but sometimes it can stick to the record when you flip it over. Other mats can change the sound, but ask yourself,,, does it really improve the sound  :?:

Here are the tweaks that I am using with my Nott as of today...

1. Stillpoints Ultra LPi. This thing is hecka cool because not only does it work magic on my turntable, it also performs a small miracle when sitting on top of my CD transport. Two tweaks for the price of one.

2. Boston Audio Mat 1. I like this mat in combination with the Stillpoints LPi record weight. However, without the LPi isolator, I prefer the stock foam mat.

3. Four Herbie's tendersoft Tenderfeet under the stock Nott base.

4. Ginkgo dust cover.

- Tweaks/changes that I am contemplating ....

1. Symposium Svelte Shelf to replace the stock Nott base, or
2. Stillpoints Ultra footers to go under the stock base.
3. A new tone arm and cartridge.
4. A better or different phono stage.
