In-wall or Outdoor speakers?
« on: 18 Jun 2004, 01:03 pm »
I am expanding my kitchen and building a 3 season room.  There is virtually no wall space because it is all windows.  I can't think of any options other than in-wall (ugh!) speakers to be placed in the vaulted ceiling or in the space below the window putting the middle of a driver about 8 inches off the floor (double ugh!!).  I want music in both rooms, probably driven by a receiver that can control only these 2 pairs.

My 1st question is - should I use "outdoor" rated speakers in the 3-season room?  The speakers would only be subject to cold and hot temperatures, not rain or snow.

If you had to choose ceiling or near floor, which would you choose?

A recent thread asked about outdoor speakers.  If the answers come back that indoor wall speakers are OK, are there any other options.

All suggestions are welcome.  Thanks,
Jack

Indoor in-wall speakers should be fine as they will not be subject to the elements.

Look into KEF in walls, they are pretty good considering that they are in-walls.  No glaring faults and pretty smooth sounding.  RBH in Utah also makes a wide line of in-walls, you might want to look into those as well.
