I just got the new 2 X 180g LP soundtrack for "Searching for Sugarman"  -- great music by Rodriguez from 40 years back and my favorite movie of the year!

and now from the sublime to the ridiculous:

I rarely buy new records but when I do it seems that 2 out of 3 are warped.  They usually still play, but really, is it that hard to make a flat record?

Not when your in a hurry, or if your press is not PLC controlled (QRP records, as an example, are fully controlled (temperature, pressure, etc.)).

MOFI records are always flat. In fact, I'd say that I haven't had a wrapped record from any of the new that I have bought in the last several years.

Have not had a lot of badly warped records "new" either, but I do like the VPI with a periphery ring to smooth things out.

I've bought some new LPs and they were also warped.

I buy lots and lots of new vinyl and have not had a problem with warpage.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.

For warped LPs I suggest this kind ring, of course not this ridiculous expensive model, but any other low priced model or a DIY model customized to your turntable.
