Pet Sounds - The Risk of Reissues
« on: 11 Nov 2012, 03:10 pm »
So I was at a record store and found an unopened copy of the Simply Vinyl 180g reissue of Pet Sounds for under $20.  I had to have it.  I bought it and forgot about it for 2 weeks.  I opened it last night.  It is in pristine condition.  I look at the label to side 1, no Sloop John B.  I thought that was odd.  So I flip it over no Sloop John B on side 2.  I thought, ok, maybe they just left it off the label by mistake.  Nope.  I play the record through, no Sloop John B.  It's a 15 year old reissue, so no luck getting it fixed.  The LP's jacket lists the song, the album is just missing it.  ARGH!  I guess I will continue to look for a good sounding Pet Sounds.  If only I could get a DCC....

I have the Capitol Records "back to black" reissue from May 1999 and it has both songs and sounds very good.
