Anyone entering the National Geographic Photo Contest? Categories are people, places, nature, 1st place is $10,000. I'm thinking of entering one photo that may have a chance. Lots of great photos and photographers over there, but we have some great photos and photographers here that could compete. :thumb:

Whoever shot the one with the crocodile w\pirhana in mouth is most definitely a contender.  And if nothing else, it ought to be some sort of internet meme at least. One my early memories was my grandma's National Geographic magazines in her basement and the issue with pirahanas in it would scare the hell out of me.

Hey!

Yup, I agreed on that one. That was a great catch.

Take care,

Thanks, its posted in the Canon S100, Cloud 9. I selected this because of the optical illusion in the photo of the duck floating on a cloud.

There is so many good photos posted on National Geographic that I don't know how the judges can narrow it down to one overall winner.

After seeing the photo of the lady on a street in Italy with a cup, begging. Winning a photo contest somehow seems so trivial and unimportant when I have so much to be thankful.  If I win I will donate the prize money to her or someone in her shoes. :|

User JHM731 is the one:

I think what would really help this one would be to adjust it so that there isn't so much green.  Make the fish more neutral and add some subtle color variation in the background.  Nothing radical, just something that looks natural but not as monochromatic.

That photo stops me in my tracks everytime I see it. That's amazing.

Is there a link to the nominees?
