Panasonic SA-XR45 pre-amp outputs for subwoofer

Just got my new panny in the door. Got everything working except the pre-amp outputs. I want to use the pre-amp outs to my subwoofer rather than using the subwoofer out. However, they aren't sending any signals to the sub. When I use the sub out, it works find. Right now the Second Out is set to Source, but no signal.

Anyone else having this issue?

I only have an XR25 which doesn't have any aux outputs, but as I understand it you'll have 2 problems:

a) the aux outputs don't work at all with digital sources - they're really just a type of analog pass-through
b) no volume control on the aux outputs.

So, I think you're pretty much stuck using the sub output.

I figured I might be SOL. I'm gonna call Panasonic Service today and see if they can check it out. I just got it, so I hate to send it out, but I figure I have to get service done on it before I send it out to get modded. Damn, it might another month before I even see it again.

btw - anyone get theirs modded by Empirical Audio?

If your panasonic headphone jack works like mine (SAHE200) (always on) you can simply plug in a stereo jack into the headphone jack and run it over to the inputs of your subwoofer and use the subwoofer controls to set your crossover frequency. This has the advantage of raising/lowering the volume to your subwoofer as you change volume on your Panny.
