Osadu,
Let me understand this.  Are you saying that changing the HDD to-BDP1 DATA cable (USB), not the digital signal cable (USB in many cases, yours would be SPDIF or AES), changed your BDP1-to-DAC presentation?

I replaced the USB cable that came with the Seagate hard disc drive with the  Kimber Kable - AG - Silver - USB B BUS.  This is the cable that connects the hard disc drive to the BDP-1.

Yes, I understand that.  Let me rephrase:  I am very surprised that you are hearing what you are hearing simply due to changing the data cable.  The change you made is prior to any jitter, and signal-induced noise, any processing of the music signal, digitally or analog.  Changing digital cables, be they USB, SPDIF, toslink, firewire, AES or otherwise, makes sense, as does changing analog cables.  But data cables...well, I guess "everything matters".

I think we already have those, but they are called SSDs.

I didn't know why, but I bought that blue Cardas usb cable to hook up my HDD and BDP-1.

Can't swear I hear any difference, but it sure looks quite nice in the set.

I suppose the only special audiophile quality of SSDs is being silent, or has anyone heard real differences in SQ?

I replaced the stock USB cable on my Seagate Freeagent hard drive with Kimber Kable - AG - Silver - USB B BUS cable.  Cost is $100.  My digital front end are BDP-1 and the BDA-1. Wow.  Huge difference.  Music is lush, full, and articulate.  Highly recommended.

If you are hearing differences I  suspect your stock cable was defective. Cables operating correctly at that stage in in the system should have no impact on sound quality.
