Watched new Marley bio last night and after playing all my Marley inventory went out and bought:

Buju Banton - til Shiloh
Congos - nice used Heart of the Congos
Augustus Pablo - Kings Tubbys meets the Rockers Uptown

all reggae, dub classics and will be on turntable all weekend long.

Listen to tons of dub sounds in the summer. Skillrex is not reggae btw.

Check out dub syndicate. Nicely produced dub. Eg rasta fari 1.
King tubby, Horace Andy, the scientist..  I love the often murky bass on older recordings. Some of the early pre- Island Bob Marley recordings are cool also, as are the Island Marley remasters.
A nice recent dub compilation called Essential Dub.
Best,
Tom

No, where I'm at (SE Texas) I play more reggae when it's cooler outside, so I can enjoy it with a good cigar and my favorite rum (Appleton's)  8)

Hi all Audio Circle members.
When it's 36C+ (97F) I play the sweet music of the air conditionning.
Sweet music to my ears and body.

No, far from it. Technically it's called "dubstep" and not even close to raggae. ALthough as a fan of both genres it's interesting to hear them together in the same song.

Here's an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPh2b37R8Gc&feature=related

Certainly not for the lighthearted, or for breakfast music.
Turn your subwoofer on.

I'm w Slushpuppy. I play it more in the winter. It reminds me of living in Colorado during a few ski seasons as a 20 something. Nothing like snow dumping into the night and hunkered down in a bar listening to Reggae.

Love Bob but Toots is the man.

Here in Houston, it is usually Hot Hot. The Summer Spike around here is usually in Dub. Reggae, in general, is a year 'round thing.

@ Bigfishhk: If you want the Bass Murk, check out Scratch Perry's Black Ark era stuff.

Not sure why.
I checked it again and it's still working for me.

In all honesty, and in the spirit of true Reggae, the purists may not be too fond of the video I posted.
I find it complementary, but.....
