SOLD. Is it possible to remove an old/expired/sold listing?

Pretty much near mint condition. I can't find any flaws. Looks great. Extraordinary, analog qualities. Solid, heavy. One of the best redbook DACs ever built and the mark 3 version is the only way to go. $599. I have feedback on Audiogon. Honestly, do your research, this is truly one of the finest redbook DACs EVER built and they are scarce. I did a TON of research before I bought this unit and I'm happy to share my extensive Cliff notes, so you'll realize the value of this beauty. I'm only selling because much of my collection is now hi-rez. On redbook, this is better than my new dac. Includes the famous digital flywheel; RCA; BNC; Toslink; "knockouts" if you desire balanced; HDCD.

Extensive pix available, including internals.  Ship worldwide. I know this is very popular in Europe.

Please feel free to ask questions.

sonicxtc, even though you just posted I'll give you a bump. The Mk.III is still one of the best DACs ever made. I'm still using one myself. Many have tried to unseat it but it's still here. Somebody is going to get an awesome DAC at that price.

I should have been more specific, I did get a owners manual with my DAC and it does not have the HDCD lamp, wondering if it is a series 2.  So is the main difference between the earlier series & 3 the HDCD. Thanks ASH

The company in the link above was created by some of the top engineers and technical personnel from the now defunct EAD. Besides producing their own designs, they repair and/or modify EAD equipment--the original EAD upgrades or their own. They will also provide you with any info you wish to know about original EAD equipment.

Thanks, Garth

As far as I know there are several key differences between the 2 and 3 model. In fact, I discussed this with someone who indicated that you cannot really upgrade a 2 to a 3 without a lot of work. Noble Electronics is THE source for definitive information on the EAD line. Feel free to give them a call. Thanks.

INPUTS:   RCA, Toslink/optical, BNC. I guess that's almost all besides USB (no USB input).
OUTPUT:   RCA
you can easily add balanced. There is a "knockout" for it.
Also, there's a phase inversion button on the front.
Digital flywheel for extremely advanced jitter control.

Hope that helps.

Thank you.

I all ready have my other dac, so I'm offering $20 towards shipping effective today. Now $579

I'll be blunt: for redbook, this is better than my current dac, so unless you listen to a lot of hirez, this is an amazing dac.

Bump for a great DAC!

I asked someone why he thought the THIS EAD 7000 mk 3 has such a special organic musical sound. The following was sent to me in a PM.

As to why? I'm not sure. But remember, the 7000 Mk.III was one of the best designed DACs back in the day. A lot of proprietary control code to handle jitter, an incredibly sophisticated design from power supply to the output jacks, and those Philips PCM-63K DACs are still considered among the best multi-bit DACs ever made. The only other DAC from that era that had those kind of chops was the Wadia. My friend has one of those, and like the EAD it still holds its own. I think if anyone put the same kind of end to end care in a DAC now using one of these newer converters it would probably cost close to $10K, if not more. Don't forget, back when it came out in the early/mid 90s it was around $3000.

This was merely me wondering why this thing sounds so good. I can't get my hi res dac to sound this good. POINT: unless you have lots of hi res, you might wish to be listening to your tunes on this beauty.

[Please note: I'm not indicating who sent this PM, so I'm not violating any confidentiality. But, PMer, please PM me if this concerns you.Thanks.]

i have an EAD Sig-8.  not sure how these DACs compare. i believe my pre-pro has BurrBrowns @24/96.  it does have the re-clocking circuitry...  EAD had it going on with DACs and still does!  i have an Oppo 83SE with the latest-greatest Sabre DACs that everyone raves about.  the EAD sounds considerably better. kind of like listening to detailed tubes instead of a sharpened SS.  the Oppo does make for a fine transport  :D  its a shame they went out of business.
i kind of keep an eye on EAD pre-pro prices on audiogon. despite their age, they appear to be rising in price.
