Thanks to Jim & Dennis- Replaced Paradigms
« on: 1 Jun 2013, 06:21 pm »
Hi All, I recently purchased a pair of Salk Songtowers QWT in black oak based on reviews. I never had the opportunity to audition prior to purchase so for me it was a bit of a risk.

In one word WOW ! What an upgrade from my Paradigm studio 20's. The soundstage is huge, clarity is excellent, mid-range is simply the best, and bass is surprisingly deep and accurate. They are as described by many in this forum and others.

Real purpose is writing this note is to thank Jim Salk and Dennis Murphy for staying the course, following their passions and giving an average income guy true taste of 'affordable" audiophile quality.
I do not participate in forums (although I use them to research) but felt compelled to write this note of gratitude to Dennis and Jim.
At 52 years young, I am truly enjoying music for the first time thanks to their efforts.
Oh and the sample CD is Excellent !

Thanks again for following your dream and in turn giving others the opportunity to do the same.
Much Peace.

I also own the STs and love them.  Music is just so pleasant to listen to with these speakers.  Hopefully you enjoy them for a good number of years.

So, what's on the Salk sample CD these days?  I really enjoyed the mix of music that Jim put together and still play it from time to time.

Wow--that's really nice of you to post those thoughts.  My only purpose in working on these projects with Jim is to get people closer to the music.  I don't much care about whether the speakers can produce reference levels of monsters on the rampage in Armageddon III at 4 meters, and as I think Jim will affirm, the ST's were kind of a good perfect storm.  Everything just seemed to come together on that design.  I have a pair of the original ST's in my kitchen,  but I kind of hope nobody notices when they come over to audition speakers.   They're a tough act to follow.

Congrats & Welcome to the Salk family kenJay. Recv'd my STs in '07, still sweet to my ears. Jim, Dennis, Paul, and all the Salk crew are special folks who go above and beyond in their work with passion. No doubt you'll enjoy them for years to come.  :thumb:

In the kitchen eh Dennis. That's what I call cookin'.  8)

I replaced a set of Paradigm Studio 10s with SCSTs, so I know what you are saying. I always liked my Paradigms and don't have anything bad to say about them, but when I hooked up my SCSTs, it was like night and day.

It is a pleasure to acknowledge hard work and dedication to task of Dennis & Jim.
Music reproduced accurately is a slice of heaven on earth. It's a shame it took me 50 years to realize it.
Dennis/Jim,  Getting people closer to the music is a beautiful intent. We all have to make a living and using your God given talents for that objective is admirable.
It is a pleasure to support a locally made excellent product.
So few small local manufactures make it in a world full of foreign sourcing, corporate greed and cost cutting initiatives.
Thanks again for putting out such an affordable /quality speaker for the average person.
I am enjoying my songtowers as I write this.
Music is truly food for the Soul !
Peace,
Ken

Ken -

Thanks for the kind words.  Much appreciated.

This is not an easy business by any means.  And, to be honest, from time to time I wonder why I am doing it.  But then I get a call or read an email or post like yours and know I made the right choice. It certainly would not be difficult to involve myself in something a lot more profitable.  But I doubt I could get anywhere near the satisfaction I get from all the positive feedback we receive.  It makes it all worthwhile.  I'm sure Dennis feels the same way.
