Universal Remotes?
« on: 17 Jun 2012, 08:57 pm »
I have a BDA-1, BP26, and 4B SST2 along with some other source gear all about 6 months old.  Love it all.  Fantastic.  Based on my memory of research I had conducted when I bought the Bryston gear I purchased a Harmony remote.  Now I find that the Harmony only controls PHASE and VOLUME on the BP26.  I have read posts on the net where people say they can control source and mute and power, but I can't find any guidance on how they make this work.

I have family members that are going to have serious problems getting the source they want without a one-touch remote.

Any thoughts for me?

Thanks

Jeff

If you switch to a remote by universal remote controls ( home theater master) like the MX900 you can teach it all the codes from your Bryston remote.

Welcome to the forum.  You can teach the Harmony like other universal remotes so long as you have a remote from the component that controls the function.

Pretty sure that source and power are not remote controllable on the BP26 regardless of the remote you use.  I think phase, mute and volume are about it.

depending on your source material of course, but leaving the bp26 on the bda1, works like a universal remote.... input selection is done through the wonderful bda1 with it's large number of inputs, volume, mute etc through the bp26. even adding the bdp1 (and the bcd) wouldn't need another remote.

only have to power up/down manually each morning and night. (but maybe that can be down with the remote trigger...?) playing the occasional record makes one have to walk to it, so an extra turn of the knob is no big effort, and even adds to the excitement of lowering the needle.. still a lovely ritual in my experience.

things start to get out of hand with cable boxes, tv's, bluray/dvd-players etc etc.

o well,

Good luck,
