Tim's SoundScape 8's in African bubinga
« on: 31 May 2012, 02:26 pm »
Tim wanted a pair of SoundScape 8's in African bubinga.  Over the years, this has been a very popular finish.  But while bubinga was plentiful just a few years ago, it is getting harder and harder to locate nice batches.  And they are getting expensive.

But we did manage to find a very nice batch for Tim.  Here are some pictures...

And a close-up...

Happy listening Tim!

Whoa - that's a mystifying veneer; has me in a trance or something. :D  You have great taste, Tim.  Congrats to you and welcome to the Salk family!

Reminds me of my HT3's back in '07.

Beautiful speakers.  I hope that if Jim does some audio shows in smaller rooms (the California Audio Show in Norcal comes to mind) that he considers bringing some SS8 speakers.  I love the sound of the full on Soundscapes but I always thought they sounded best in larger rooms like the large ground floor room at RMAF.

We had SoundScape 10's in an extremely small room at the CA Audio Show last summer.  At first I was worried that the speakers would overwhelm the room.  But they were great, as would be the SoundScape 8's.  Actually, the next time I do a show in CA, I will probably lighten my load and only bring the SoundScape 8's. They sound amazing in a small room.

t.suv Those look awesome :thumb:
I"ve got a question in the top photo they look a little to the yellow side and in the close up to the red side. Are they more red or yellow.
If I sell my HT2-TL's this weekend I will be ordering a pair of SS8's and was thinking cocobolo, till I saw these.
Can you post more pics?

The close-up pictures are more accurate color-wise.  The full shots are more influenced by lighting in the room which tends to be on the yellow side.  These are the only pictures I took, so there are no more since the speakers left yesterday.

Sold my HT2-TL's yesterday (I will miss them) so I'm looking forward to more pics while I decide what veneer or finish I get.
