An absolutely fantastic version of Stevie Ray Vaughan playing "Flood Down in Texas" is on the "Blues Explosion" album (blues recorded at the 1982 Montreax Jazz Festival).  10+ minutes of SRV jamming at his best.

Also, if you want some fabulous electric blues try Walter Trout "Live Trout", recorded live at the Tamps Bay Blues Festival in 2000.  The CD is end-to-end electric blues.

I have to give early Zeppelin a nod. Some good blues on Led Zeppelin I and Led Zeppelin II.
why have a copy when you can have the real thing!   Willie Dixon and Howlin Wolf

BTW, I love the Zep but I love their stuff but Chester's and Willie's stuff is often imitated but never duplicated!

Hound Dog Taylor "Genuine HouseRocking Music" (excellent)
John Lee Hooker "The Healer" (I didn't expect this from John Lee Hooker, it's fab)
Bryan Lee "Live at the Old Absinthe House Bar" (hard driving)
Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters "Now My Soul" (The best dam version of 'Double Trouble' you'll ever hear)
Johnny Mars "Mighty Mars" (Blues harmonica at it's best)
-stay tuned-

Fine, nobody likes my LZ suggestion.

The Allman Brothers Band - At Fillmore East

Statesboro Blues, Done Somebody Wrong, and Stormy Monday.........it doesn't get any better than that.  :thumb:

I second that recommendation

If I were asked what my 10-20 desert island disks are the first one out of my mouth is BLUES FOR THOUGHT. Terry Evans. Wouldn't even have to think. Absolutely smokin' stuff. Do yourselves a big favor and check it out.

Come to the River - pretty nice range - "The River" followed by "I Got Loaded" I found to be a particularly humorous juxtaposition

thanks for the suggestion on BFT

and re SRV - "Riviera Paradise" - live at ACL - what else is there to say?

I just picked up the Chess Box of Howlin' Wolf, and a vinyl copy of The London Sessions. Excellent for sure, but man does not live on bread alone.  :green:

Grab some.....

Luther Allison... (did a gig with him way back when at Kenny's Castaways) :guitar:

I saw him back in 1970, he opened for Dr. John and Santana at the Filmore - good stuff then and still is now

Back to Mitsuman's Led Zeppelin suggestion. I'm listening to their BBC Sessions album. I like it for some rockin blues.

Thirds.
That album (ABB@Fillmore East) still holds my personal record for time on-the-platter... There was about a five month stretch where it ALWAYS seemed to be on the TT. (Only Santana 'Moonflower' came close.) I probably wore out at least three copies. Sold my Nautilus half-speed-master version awhile back as I haven't spun vinyl in quite awhile.

Junior Kimbrough - "All Night Long" always gets my foot to tap.  The Black Keys (not bad for white dudes) also did a cover of Jrs stuff titled 'Chulahoma' that gets high marks as well.

Great to see the Terry Evans albums mentioned.  He's got the mojo.  Got to see him live +/-10 years ago during his run with AudioQuest label.  They had a nice string of albums for a while.

Otis Rush has some great titles as well.

Albert King - Born Under a Bad Sign, Blues Power, on and on....

Almost anything by Buddy Guy.

"Crawling King Snake"

what is it with these blues guys and the snake metaphor   :thumb:

a great pair of bookends is Muddy Waters "Folk Singer" (imagine being a fly on the wall for that all acoustic session - Muddy, Willie, Buddy and James on a minimal drum kit - you can hear the room)  and Buddy's "Blues Singer" -  on which Buddy played back-up

edit:  and for some fun bluze shreddin,  early Johnny Winter wasn't all bad neither
