AVA amp question
« on: 14 May 2012, 12:55 am »
Maybe this is a why should I really care question. But, I see amps list as class A, A/B, D. Had not seen this for AVA amps so thought I would ask. What class are Frank's amps?

The AVA amps are class A/B.  It's true that in the end it's largely about the sound, regardless of technology or Class.  However, you might care whether an amp is Class A or not, as they are the least efficient with high bias current and can run as hot as a tube amp with high power consumption.

It may also be the case that Class D does not play as nice with the rest of the electronics on the same circuit.
