Need some help feedback on new design.

Some of you may already know about this but we are working on a new high-end computer monitor/HT monitor system.   These are small speakers that will utilize the new Adire Audio 4" XBL^2 drivers.   The finished size is about the same size as the Klipsch, Energy etc... monitors on the market.   Actually they are a little smaller but we get more extension (<95HZ f3) and lower distortion.

Anyway... I wanted to get some opinions on the cosmetic design.  Could you guys give me some feedback?

The little grey stand on the bottom will probably change and we are really scratching our heads over the speaker grill.   The rest of the shape I'm pretty happy with.

Is that a tweeter?

How would they be powered, internally or externally?

How much for a pair?

Thanks...

I think they look OK, but style was never a strong suit of mine.

Yes.... a small 19mm tweeter.   The 4" driver is pretty good up over 10K and the tweeter will be run via 1st order network with a high crossover point.

These will be powered externally so they could be run with a HT amplifier or we are designing an amp into the plate amplifier of the subwoofer for computer use.

You got me!  We are aiming for about $350 for the powered computer 2.1 system which would include amplification, two monitors and a dual 8" XBL^2 sub.    I'm thinking of offering these as a 5-channel system for HT use with different subwoofer choices based on room size.   The computer monitor will be the first application though and a 5-channel HT system would be something released much later.

Cool! How does it look if you just remove the grey oval (the one with the chicken wire in it ;) )

We don't use chicken wire here John.  Vapor Grill is our trade name for this brand new acoustically transparent speaker grill.  Really high-speed and I'm writing the patent application as we converse.

Really though... just squint your eyes a little and pretend it isn't there.

Hi Kevin:

That's a nice looking speaker already.  Most computer monitors are UGLY.  So you're on the right track already.

It's a bit squatty.  Might it be possible to orient the main driver and/or the tweeter vertically rather than horizontally?  This would give it a bit more height and perhaps look cool.

You're right, the horseshoe shaped feet gotta go.   Hmmm, maybe keep the horeshoe shape but make them fatter and turn them around so the ends are in the rear?

You've got a very industrial look going with the 3 vertical tubes that cover the main driver.  How about getting rid of them and just doing your mesh screen in a convex shape over the driver?

Charcoal color instead of black?

Just throwing ideas at you, hope it helps.

I think it looks plenty 'cool' and from what I can estimate is right around a size that would be accepted as a larger PC speaker. . .

Nice job!
