Dave wanted something in a darker shade that was quite unusual.  We ran across a batch of spalted bee's wing makore that looked very interesting.  I had worked with makore before and bee's wing makore.  But I had never seen spalted bee's wing makore.

When I asked about it, the veneer supplier said that the plant that cut the veneer had been around for 60 years and never saw a log like this.  Talk about unique.  So I bought I large batch and we went to work.

Here are some pictures...

And a close-up...

Happy listening David!

- Jim

Thanks Jim and all the Salk worker bees (pun intended).

Jim or others,
The new Supercharged Song Tower has a RAAL tweeter and Seas mid woofers - does this not make it a less expensive alternative to the Veracity HT2TL with similiar performance  -just notas deep or loud?

when i mentioned my needs, Jim suggested either. The HT2TL digs a little lower, more sensitive to room placement. I liked the smaller form factor of the SCST.

Very handsome.  Good for Jim for off setting the tweeters.  Some folks might think that it looks awkward but it is effective to a desirable end.  They look to be about 44" tall so it should be less likely to sell a soundstage short, no pun intended.

They came in this morning!
The outside of the boxes were a little damaged, but the speakers were packed really well with styrofoam, so no damage at all.
Listening to the demo CD Jim sent right now, the SCSTs dig really deep, listening without my sub.
The custom CC came out great, fits right in my spot except I need to cut the hole for the wires a little larger so the binding posts can fit in. It came out about 37" long, just a bit narrower than my plasma screen. He was able to accommodate a grill, which looks good when watching the screen.
I'll post a review after I settle them in and run ARC for multichannel.

^ Listen without ARC for a while first, then run ARC and compare to see which you like best.  Enjoy, Dave!

My plan is to run ARC, limiting it to as low a freq as possible to use with HT.
For 2 channel, I'm going to leave it off for now.

Shouldn't one be at least 21 before being allowed to view pictures like these?  Simply too gorgeous.
