DIY - "$2 Million Listening Room"
« on: 2 Apr 2012, 06:29 am »
Hey GASers,

If you get the DIY Network set your DVR for: Friday, 4/6 at 12:30pm. The series "Million Dollar Contractor" is featuring a high-end listening room install project in Manhattan. I caught the closing few minutes of the show on Sunday evening...very cool! The finished room appeared to have many of the features I've seen in pictures of Rives Audio designs. (The episode is: "$2 Million Listening Room".)

Take care,
Dave

It's available on our Comcast On-Demand.  I watched it a couple of weeks ago.  As with all of the DIY network Million Dollar Contractor shows it was very light on actual content and very heavy with Stephen Fanuka (the contractor).

Yeah, I thought the same thing. Could have been much better, they never really showed the system very well just panned by it for the most part. But it is worth watching for sure.

There is quite a bit of money tied up there, but I always question the wisdom of setting microphonic tube amps up in front of giganormous speakers for a home theater. Watching a sub movie with depth charges resounding directly into any tube amp is folly, no matter how good.

I finally got a chance to watch the whole (recorded) episode. Martin was soooo right! You don't really even see any of the listening room until the closing minutes of the show. Oh well, at least I couold fast-forward with the DVR  :D  daves, yeah, you'd think for $2m they could afford cables long enough to have the equipment off to the side wall  :thumb:

Here are a couple Agon "virtual system" posts with similar design features by Rives Audio:
