New MacBook Air and Maverick Audio D1
« on: 8 Mar 2012, 12:14 am »
i was just given a MacBook Air as a gift and I have a Maverick Audio D1 as my connected by usb as my computer system.  The MBA or the Maverick Audio will not recognize each other. :duh:  Anyone know what I have to do to make them work together?  I has worked with my PC net book for years.  I did download a driver for that way back when I bought the Maverick Audio D1.

Thanks,

The Maverick D1 DAC should be detected by the MacBook Air and no additional drivers are needed.  I don't think the MacBook will automatically switch its sound playback from its current default to the USB DAC when it's connected, as it does with a PC.

Does the USB sound device appear at all in Sound Preferences?  If not, perhaps try the other USB port if you have determined that the USB cable is OK or have tried another cable.

MLS,

To choose the USB DAC, you need to do it manually in Audio Midi Setup, which is located in the Applications folder.

The DAC should be listed under the Built-in options. Select the DAC and then click the gear icon pulldown at the bottom of the window and check 'Use this device for sound output'

I switched to the other USB port and went to the sound tab and picked USB device and it worked.  It did not list the Maverick by name.

Thanks for all your help.
