Ok so here's the deal. I built this about a month ago because I was inspired by these ultra cool bulbs and think this is about the coolest thing any audiophile can have but I want to try and sell it because I really could use the money to pay bills rather than have it sitting on my table. This is a totally custom, one-off peice. If you search tube lamp you'll find this plastic square thing for 225 bucks that i think looks like someone spent 5 minutes "designing". Not the case here. I built this thing to be the best it could be. All the wood is solid maple. The lamp sockets are ceramic. all the internal wiring is 105 °C 600v UL listed wire, solid metal spikes. It will last you forever. Made to look like a sleek tube amp. You can use any combination of bulbs you like, this is just what I liked and they are also readily available online. I have probably 50 hours or so on the bulbs, they are rated for 3000 hrs.
All the bulbs are 30watt. The voltmeter is an NOS simpson I got off ebay. Really nice meter too, All metal construction, glass face. Too bad they dont make em as good anymore. Meter is flush mounted and of course, fully functional.
The case is solid maple, I added in a peice on the front to build up the profile so I could fit the meter in there. And cut the sides so the top and bottom would fit flush into the box so you dont see any end grain except the top triangle peice. I also added in some brass pins to the top to look like fasteners although everything but the bottom peice is all glued together. The bottom screws in with some stainless 1/4-20 allen head bolts I tapped the wood to thread them right in, which is working very well the wood is hard enough to take threads quite easily. Finished off with a nice satin polyurethane
Like i said this is a one of a kind peice that is functional art for anyone in the hobby. I would like to try and get
$300 for it. When you consider whats gone into this thats a pretty good price. I have a third of that just in materials alone. More pictures available upon request.
Shipping will probably be 20 dollars or so depending on your location.
