Hi,
Updated info.

These have been effectively "under contract" since March. I was in no hurry, but located some Green Mountain speakers locally that are a fine value. The "buyer" is not able to follow through due to circumstances beyond his control. I committed to buying my "new" used speakers next week, so... someone will get a good deal. PLEASE READ THE DETAILS so you understand what a mind blowing value this is.
No, I won't "give them away," I'll store them in my office if I must, but....Here's the scoop.

About three years ago, I bought a great pair of Klipsch Forte speakers. I loved them. I researched upgrading the crossovers with new caps, which led to a series of "down the rabbit hole" investigations. Then, I learned of the Crites autotransformers and diaphragms. Then, I found out about a way to build a massive outboard crossover. With the help of someone at Audiokarma, I put all the puzzle pieces together and built what is a fantastic upgraded outboard crossover, including great autotransformers, Crites diaphragms, all new upgraded silver and copper wiring, and more. Point blank if you like the original Forte, this is simply a STAGGERING improvement. The before and after difference is unimaginable. The basic crossover is fairly simple. That means you can focus on truly high end parts rather than sourcing dozens and dozens of different parts to build far superior crossovers than the originals. From Jazz to arena rock these babies are awesome. The midrange is pure; the bass is deep and powerful without any thumpy bass bloat. They sound good at low volume and when cranked they really kick. The Forte's are known for being a great rock speaker, but with these upgrades these really rock with PRAT, groove, dynamics and more volume than I’ll ever need. You will be in air guitar heaven. Orchestras sound full and clear and sing with authority. I welcome you to audition them if you are serious.

I am assembling my original parts list, which I believe totals around $900. Parts include: Mundorf silver and oil caps, Deulund resistors, huge North Creek Air Core inductors, North Creek Wire, Crites autotransformers and titanium diaphragms. The speakers were $600, the crossover parts were around $900 plus. The last ebay sale that I just saw was $778 for a stock pair of Klipch Forte. I will sell this pair for $999 FIRM. I ask you to consider this: If you bought a pair of Fortes for $600 to $700 and just did a basic Crites-type crossover upgrade you are looking at around a grand. That won't bring you close to these speakers in value or sound. I know the full before and after effect. You will likely never find something like this again. And, yes that gigantic air core makes a huge difference in the bass. The ¾” MDF crossover board is about 15" square [width of the speaker itself, so it sits directly behind it]. And I built a 3/4" MDF top/side enclosure for it as well. Feel free to ask questions. Pix soon.

The speakers are in great condition, some minor veneer damage on ONE side of one speaker BASE, (just the base), but overall excellent condition. Thanks for looking. Feel free to ask questions. I am willing to ship, but that will require a total of 3 boxes and the MDF crossovers are somewhat heavy.

I would prefer local pick-up, but just want these in a good home. I am willing to ship, but buyer pays for materials and actual shipping cost. It will take me at least two hours to box these properly. Location: North Carolina. I have great feedback on Audiogon, just ask me for it.

Someone asked if I would consider selling the crossovers separately from the speakers. Yes, I will separate if the crossover sells first. Then, someone can buy the Fortes with original crossovers, upgraded wiring, upgraded diaphragms. Thanks for the question.

This ad, like so many others, recommends buyer pickup or invites audition without revealing location. The United States is a big country, if indeed you are in this country. Please, everybody, give your location or zip code when advertising items for sale.
