Dual mono ClassDaudio SDS 254 w/ Connex PS board, sounds very
natural and engaging!

Especially with the 6H30-DR tube on board the Dodd Battery Buffer.

Hey guys
Those beasts were designed and built by myself for another mans company product!! I have his permission to show them off so I am taking that opertunity to do so. This is one heck of a DIY project as I did over 90% of it all myself including all the machining except for the sides and face plates!
I have well over 1000 hours of time in these things. I am very proud of these bad boys for sure! :green: :green:
They are very large but only take up 2 square feet of floor space.
300 pounds each! Will produce almost 700 watts before clipping.
While I was testing them I was using 10 HZ and my equipment ran out of drive at 540 watts, distortion was around .2%,very very clean!!! I estimate approx 700 at or just before clipping. All 24 ouput tube are individually automatically biased with servo's and they are also direct coupled to the drive stage. 20 tubes total in each amp. 200+ watts of class A power. They idle full time at 720 watts each and they do raise the room temp about 8 degrees in just a couple of hours! The room is 17'x22'x20'. I am running them 12 hours each day until he comes to get them. I am thinking of giving him the electric bill for this month. 12 amps continuous 12 hours a day for the next week or so, i wonder what that's going to cost?
They are the most awsome amps I have built to date! :green:
Now I'm itchin to do twice the power and twice the tubes!
The sound is INCREDIBLE to say the least, the best I have ever done!
That's enough, later.

WOW Gary to go from designing and alllowing people to DIY a pre/buffer
or buy a pre-built unit under $1500 which offers the best sound I have heard
from 5K and under!! to massive power amps that will sell for who knows what
is what a great designer is meant to do!

Here is hoping you get all the regonotion amd accolades for the time and effort
you have put into the love of this hobby based on the best sound you can
acheive with the knowledge and experience you have demostrated over the years!

All The Best,
JT

Okay, I got the chance to see and hear these bad boys this week when I went to visit Gary.

First, let me say it was great to see Gary looking and feeling better after his health challenges last year.

As for the amps, wow!  These are beasts in person.  Clear and liquid sounding, dead quiet background and amazingly controlled heat due to the auto-biasing scheme he's using, there's no doubt these will be competing at the top of the amp food chain for the company Gary designed them for.

Having known Gary for awhile now and having owned or heard extensively most everything he's designed, these are really special and a culmination of everything he's learned and done through the years.  Awesome to see a buddy at the top of his game with a product like this.  Congrats Gary, and good luck to the guys who have to crate and move these monsters.  :icon_lol:

Understandably, we got blinded by Gary's new amp, but I still want to see what else people are using with his buffers and pre's.  So far:

Moscode      1
Spud         1
Emotiva      1
Pass Labs      1
ClassDAudio      3

I use mine between a TacT 2.2x and a UcD 400 homebrew (using Hypex premium parts).  Very nice.  BTW, Mr. Dodd went out of his way to get the buffer to me a couple of weeks ago, much appreciated.  BTW #2, Parts Connexion (no affiliation) raised their price on the supertubes from $99 to $209 t about that time.  Ouch.
