SOLD Offered for sale is a custom hand built Single Ended Stereo Amplifier by Ultra Fi 's Larry Moore.
I really love this amp and used it w/ Sophia Meshplate 2A3 tubes .
unfortunately it does not have enough power for my low impedance AMT drivers , hence the sale.
i might be open to trade offers for a tube amp w/ at least 15w , SET preferred.
Following is a brief circuit description:
INPUT STAGE
One of 12B4 or 12A4 plate loaded using wirewound resistors and carbon composition for the cathode (bypassed) and grid. The tube selection allows for adjust of the gain structure in one’s system. The input stage is capacitively coupled to the output stage using Mundorf silver foil in oil capacitors, arguably the best coupling capacitor in the World. An additional feature is the ability to selected shared cathodes using a miniature switch located on the top panel. Sharing cathodes adds additional focus to the center image in many systems.
OUTPUT STAGE
45 , 2A3, or triode wired 46 or 47 using included socket adapters, self or cathode bias using 50 watt wirewound non-inductive 1% precision resistors, bypass are Panasonic TSHAs. The output transformers are the highly acclaimed James units.
POWER SUPPLIES
Separate filament transformers for each output tube with precision 10-turn wirewound hum balance pots for dead quiet operation. Massively over specified toroidal transformer with double LC filtration for the B+ power supply.
Cardas Rhodium RCA input jacks with copper based Vampire speaker binding posts. Schurter Power switch and integrated IEC AC power inlet. All ceramic tube sockets used throughout. Beautiful Corian solid surface side panels (the picture don’t do them justice) for a non-resonant chassis with anodized CNC machined top, front, back and bottom panels, constructed using stainless steel hardware fasteners though out. Point-to-point construction.
Gain: Mu changes from 6.5 to 20 if switched from 12B4 to 12A4 tube.
Here's the order in terms of leanness to fullness of sound with the output tubes: 47, 45, 46, 2a3.
power is a couple of watts with the 45 and a little more than 3 with 2a3.
one pair of 12B4 and 5 12A4 tubes are included .
i also include Adapters and 46 tubes w/ the sale which according to Mr. Larry Moore sound better then the 45's.
