When the needle is on a record (not spinning) and if you tap the platform or rack that your turntable sits on, do you hear it through the speakers?  Just want to know...

Cool looking set-up, is the whole thing trans-fi/Teres?
I'm sure you have a whole lotta people drooling around here.

1)Is the rack stable? Can you push on one of the legs and move the whole thing sideways, or is it solid?

2) IMO, once you have a stable stand all you need is to put the table and motor on a platform that's decoupled from the stand. I would just use inverted cones, but you have lots of things you can try. Because you have the consideration of motor vibrations being transmitted, maybe a combination of materials for the platform would be beneficial. A thin piece of slate is pretty heavy and might work better in conjunction with wood. I'm not sure it's a good idea to decouple the table with those things under your cones, except for motor considerations. Was that worked out by the guy from Trans-fi?

It's a Trans-Fi Salvation rim drive TT and Terminator T3Pro tone arm. Nothing Teres in there at all. The plinth is slate with solid aluminum platter. The whole thing weighs about 70 lbs, then sits on the granite plate on the rack.

I've tried various floor protectors and gliders under the rack legs. The spikes are threaded so it can be made level and stable, however the Dri Core subfloor floats on the concrete. It is somewhat hollow underneath due to the plastic waffle pattern so warmed air and any moisture can flow through beneath. Unfortunately, with the bamboo nailed directly to it, the floor naturally resonates slightly and even footfalls can transmit small vibrations up the legs to the TT. There is enough mass in the stand (3 granite shelves plus TT) that it is fairly stable, but I still get vibration transmission up to the top.

Vic at Trans-Fi uses a wall mount with a slab of slate sitting on either squash balls or large gel pads for decoupling. The 3 cones and motor base then sit on top of that. A sand bed would accomplish the same thing, though messy.

Think you'll wind up on the wall? Not a bad way to go.

Trans-Fi uses a modified Teres Verus motor.

He used to put them in a heavy brass casing and have a lever contraption to engage and disengage from the platter. Yours looks a little nicer, both the lever and the case. I see yours has a smaller drive wheel.

Nice! A few years ago the slate plinth was about 1/3 as thick. He identified the motor as Teres and it was kind of a DIY thing. People rave about the arm. Good to see he's making it, good stuff.

Sorry for OT, but he is not using the Verus motor for the Salvation. This is his own with an entirely different controller.

You're absolutely right, the arm is great and it is indeed very good stuff!

I see. Apparently the new power supply has no speed regulation other than on the mains. For those interested here's an explanation and review:
