Even with shipping included, they are still represent a significant bargain.   :)

I'll be paying in the neighborhood of $800 for SS8 shipping to Alaska.  I'm sure it's more to NZ.  And obviously I think it's worth it since I'm doing it!  (but I don't have to like it )

Congratulations Mike - those are a beautiful pair of speakers!

Even with shipping, and the duties, and the taxes we who don't reside in the US pay, Salks are a HUGE bargain.

Nice, looking very attractive. Congra Mike. The SS8 will surely put a smile on your face. Price vs performance ratio, nothing can beat the 8

Hi,

I shipped my Salk Sound HT2's from the US to Perth, Western Australia.  I think with all associated costs it was about $1000 extra plus cost of the speakers.  They still represented very good value in comparison to how much hifi costs in Australia.  With the strong aussie dollar buying from the US is quite reasonable.

I tried to get Jim to give me the better price calculated against the Alaskan Dollar, but no go.

:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:   Beautiful.  The pau ferro rosewood seems to vary a fair amount in grain, color and pattern from batch to batch.  This one tending to the lighter side...  just an observation, I tend to like them all.  Congrats Mike!

super nice. BTW been meaning to ask this (not to hi-jack, but seems silly to start a new thread). out of curiosity, could the SS8's have a front baffle on them or is there not enough room on the edges of the woofer?

Thank you all for your feedback. I can't wait to get them here. These came about as I was finding it really difficult to listen to speakers in this bracket without indenting them. So I took the plunge, after reading all the forums. Some would say foolhardy to buy without listening but it didn't seem to much of a risk to me.
I had the good wife involved in the selection of the veneer to go with our new home that is being built. (with fully sound insulated room & doors). I will just have time to unpack & have a quick listen before we move to temporary accomodation whist we build.
I will be driving them with the Wyred4 Sound STI500 (which I also bought without listening to) & Bryston CD. HT is driven through a Yamaha 3900 & Oppo83.

If you mean grill, the answer is yes.
