High Resolution Material
« on: 23 Jan 2012, 01:30 am »
A lot of the so-called High Resolution material available on HDTracks were originally recorded in the 1950s, 1960s in analog   This was way before the digital age.  For example, the highly sort after analog jazz recordings in the '50s and the '60s.  How do today's vendors, eg HDTracks convert them into digital high resolution material?  Are they truly digital high resolution?  Any thoughts?

The best way is to go back to the mastertapes and use a AD (analogue-to-digital) converter that would be at least 32-bit/384kHz.  Once digitized, they would need to be digitally remastered prior to creating in their final format.
