Gavin my friend!

There' still time to upgrade to the MKII's. Quick question for 9 owners, first, they are gorgeous! I noticed in the back a few more cables. Is there two sets of cables going into one speaker?

Hi Henry,

They are the same as other VRs, split bi-wire. The extra cables are the powercords for the active subwoofers.  :)

Jack,

Thanks! Are the PC's included in the price of the 9's? If I ever win the lottery, they are my top choice to replace my VR-5 Anniversary MKII's!  :thumb:

They come with standard PCs. I changed mine to Shunyata Pythons because I had some, not really because I felt I needed them. SOme people might here the difference with a crossover point centered at around 50Hz. Honestly though, I personally can't.

hi jack & all
did you`ll playaround with different pc`s for the 9se......bass/low freq does improve with better? pc`s......which does make the overall sound better.....your preference if any
Anybody using two runs of speaker cables instead of the regular masterbuilt sign....biwire at speaker end and single at amp....thats the only affordable tweak i did not try for the 7s....apart for a dedicated sound chamber!.......the 9s are so much less fussy ie room only
cheers

Hi AV, I tried 3 different power cords on the active subs but couldn't tell the difference at all. I stayed with the Pythons just because I already had them and they looked cool.

I biamp so I am using two sets of single masterbuilt signature SCs. I've tried 2 singles vs. the bi-wire using the two sets of output posts of the Lamm M2.2, I likewise heard no changes.  :)

jack
the cassina chair.......must say the " dodo" chair by toshiyuki kita in ferrari red is stunning piece of furniture....construction, fit and finish is second to none.....but on prolong use for listening to music becomes a little clinical for me......very Japanese concept in design ...... for me I tend to slouch on the reclining chair....which does compromise comfort.....hence I use a very comfortable sofa( pic).......how's the Auckland chair

for prolonged listening

how's the 9se with the new tweaks with your room.....
any updates on the new ultras vsa cables
thanks for your input for the use of. PCs and the concept of two single cables for biwiring

cheers

I thought I'd gotten the best of the 9s in the year and a half I've had them then I recently upgraded my LP and Server front ends. Proved there was even more that they do. Now I'm not sure what limits these things really have. I'll be taking possession of 11 Mk2s later this year due to a fortuitous event which are tonal dead ringers. Aside from more ease which isn't a problem with 9s in my room (over 230 cubic meters) anyway would be their ability to more evenly generate bass having flown subs and mid-basses.

I don't have the Ultras for beta yet. The pair Albert was to send me is half a meter too short so he's having the Delphi gents brew up another pair.

The Auckland is perfect for me. It feels like a GT car seat being on the firm side. I  have to watch my back so I got a chair I can't slouch in. The Dodo really is a beauty. This is the first time I saw it in red.

For those interested in the new Masterbuilt Ultra Extreme interconnects, I started a thread "Ultra Extreme interconnects" in the VSA circle.  Delphi brought the first pair to the March Axpona show and I was offered an audition.  The pair I auditioned for six weeks or so are identical to the production version.  They'll cost a chunk of change, but are really amazing, even with just the insertion of one pair of the two meter interconnects into a system.  Below is the link to the thread.

Added Track Audio isolation footers to my 7's with 2 buddies on Sunday, coupled to my concrete floor below carpet.  Immediate effect was profound - tighter and clearer bass, greater detail, clarity and high-end extension from the m/t speakers as the bass notes were no longer muddying it.  Spikes are adjustable, which came in handy to correct a slight unevenness in the floor.  Speakers are now about 1.5" off the floor.

NOTE:  Had to order 3/8-16 adapters for the spikes, per Albert.  However, it turned out they didn't fit the existing t-connectors on the speaker bottoms.  We had to replace these smaller T-connectors with 3/8 connectors found at the local hardware store.  Pretty much of a PITA, making the installation a lot longer than it really should have been.
