Fmod, noob question . . .
« on: 13 Jan 2012, 06:32 pm »
Okay, I'm done searching and I am still confused.  I know an inline fmod that goes in the rca line before the amp will ease the load of the low frequencies as in the v series speakers. This allows the amp an easier time to drive the coax.

What is needed then to get the lows to the bass amps?  Does my preamp need separate outs?  RCA's straight to the sub amps?  Or do you split the first set of RCA's?  one to Fmod and the other to the sub amps?  I assume extra connections are always frowned upon but i don't know how this will work.

You can split a single preamp out signal with a Y cable. The benifit you get from reducing the IMD on the 12 coax will outweigh any possible signal loss form the 1 more set of RCA connectors in line.

Use a good cap in line with your Mid woof/Tweeter amp (Sonicap, Mundorf, Jupiter).

Like Nick said, you can Y the RCA's. Go full range the servo subs and plug the Fmod directly into your power amp feeding the servo subs.

I have also had good results making one using a .033 to .047uF Sonicap Platinum in line with the amp. Basically I am making my one Fmod but with a single cap it is a first order curve.

Actually there is no need for this and it would actually degrade the performance.
