I was messing around on this site last nite, listening to some stuff:
http://club.mp3search.ru/. You can purchase whole albums pretty cheaply, most around $.50 to $1, with individual tracks mostly under a dime. Apparently you X amount of GB for Y amount of dollars, sorta like a prepaid phone card.
Has anyone used them before? I must admit that aside from streaming audio samples of things I was thinking of buying, I've never downloaded a single song from the internet in my life. The quality of the songs is variable, but I was noticing a couple of extremely rare discs that are almost impossible to buy available for download at a [tolerable] bit rate of 256 kbps. Not super quality, but the CD itself is old & probably not very great sounding anyway.
How would I know if they're 'legit' short of sending 'em my money? I don't wanna get screwed, but I also don't wanna pirate anything. If they're not legit then obviously I wouldn't deal with them.
BTW, there's nothing specifically that would make me wonder, just that they're a tab at the top to view the page in Russian instead of English. I know that Russia is a hotbed of pirated discs...
