Max lost contact?
« on: 28 Dec 2011, 03:28 pm »
Hi,

Strange things happen: today I loaded some new tracks onto the 2 hdd's and Max is taking very long in responsiveness, as in 10 to 30 seconds to come back and show the selected map/folder. But more than that, it won't make anyplaylists. I click on Add all, but no list appears at the right column. No album art either. When I open mPad, it does show the playlist and album art....

Doing it the other way, that is start in MPad and then look in Max, the same thing happens: no lists in view or album art.

I did restart, reboot, empty cache....etc etc

Edit: tried in Macbook/safari/Max at first, but now I notice the same applies to safari on the IPad. So not Macbook related.

Any hints or tips?

Thanks,
Marius

Basically same thing happened to me a few days ago.  Rebooted computer, BDP, multiple times; finally disconnected the power cord from the BDP and reconnected (hard re-boot?)....that fixed the problem; whatever the problem was/is.

Ok will try that, thanks.
Maybe Chris or James would know what this is about?

It's like for some reason the BDP-1 slows up when there is to much Data for it to read..
As well the BDP-1 needs more memory or cash on it's own main board.
Another Point ....
Let says you want to play  from your expansion drive ABBA for me since ABBA is on the top of the hard drive ABBA will appear quickly on my play list .... since it is the 1st letter of the alphabet..
......versos U2, UB40 or even Van Morrison which are at the bottom of my expansion hard drive. The artists that are at the bottom of the alphabet take forever to appear on my play list.
They do  appear but it does take time.

Yes MAX is web based and will react slower than a dedicated APP like Mpod or Mpad or Minion or Gnome. The newer Mini 2 is based on a different technology and will react faster even though it is still web based.

"Yes MAX is web based and will react slower than a dedicated APP like Mpod..."
*******
The problem that I had, which sounds similar to the one that Marius experienced, is that there is not speed issue but a lack of communication.  The BDP was shown as "connected" but nothing showed up in MPad, Max, MPod.  Very odd. I rebooted every thing from cable modem to BDP, without effect.  Finally disconnecting/reconnecting the AC power re-set whatever the problem was in the BDP.   If it happens again, I will try to be more observant of what is/isn't happening.

Steve.... yes I guess I was not clear
Your same problem as Marius experienced has happened to me more than just once.

It's like The BDP-1 freezes for some reason ... to me it a memory problem "a pause a glitch" ?????
It's like a reset that has to be completed ???
My BDP-1 is plugged into my RM20.

This happened to me on Gnome player and MAX. I turned off the BDP-1, let it sit for 30 secs, then re-booted, and then both Gnome and MAX reconnected and functioned.

HI,

Reboot, or turning off/on did not work in my case. Unplugging from the mains did

Exactly the same problem and "fix" that I had.  Very odd!!
