I have a Behringer DEQ2496 and got the DAC section modded.  Very pleased with the sound, but the EQ instructions/controls are very complex.  They are professional gear, but build quality of Behringer in general is suspect.  So you'll need XLR connectors, I recommend Scott Endler for inexpensive/high quality interconnects/cables.

I have recommended a few pieces of Behringer gear from time to time based primarily on cost.  Whether it's a $25 USB interface (UCA-202), a $70 pair of multimedia computer speakers (MS16) or a $225 DEQ2496, the attraction is that they get you into a particular piece of equipment at a very low price of admission.

Most of it is worth its low price, but I don't think anyone is under the delusion that any of the components are worth 2X or 3X their price.

I've been really pleased with my Behringer UCA202. Just the thing in a cheap office system.
