Just happened to come across the above whilst searching for single-outlet hospital-grade wall receptacle (first discovered today).  Seems like a fair price.

12 outlets (above) seems like too many while the next step down in quantity (6) seems too few.  A couple years ago I made a surface-mount (preferred over rack-mount) 8-outlet hospital grade strip with two interconnected aluminum 4-plex boxes and IEC receptacle for (estimate) a little over 1/2 the Grainger item above.  Seemed well worth the considerable effort when I completed it.

Wow, the 2nd one is new for $78 delivered.  Guess I should have just bought one of these suckers.  Were such available a couple years ago?

Hospital grade plug in a hospital grade outlet has considerable grip tension.

On a different but related matter: did you guys ever read Enid Lumley's statement in TAS several eons ago, that RCA never specified an exact diameter for the ID of the signal receiver tunnel of an RCA jack? (Not to be confused with the OD of the signal pin of the plug.)

If true, that explains the difference among RCA plug/jack tensions (other than the ground junction).

Mouser normally has complete specs.  HERE they post the plug pin OD but ignore the signal tunnel receiver of the jack, which receives said plug pin, although one might presume one spec = the other.  The accuracy of one spec is diminished if not meaningless without the other.  I won't even post the Wiki page, lacking both the pin and the tunnel spec.

One wonders how the selling price could possibly cover the raw materials (metal case?), manufacturing, assembly, shipping China-USA, and shipping USA-USA...

Good deal on a quality power strip, but what leads you to believe that the receptacles are hospital grade?

I asked the same question and re-read the topmost link, which now does not work.  IIRC the description specified hospital grade, but unfortunately I can't confirm it now.  One would presume ebay and amazon would loudly advertise hospital grade if it was, but it is not addressed in the ads.

The price would make more sense if it was not hospital grade.

I was looking at the item on the Tripp Lite website, and I couldn't find any mention of hospital grade receptacles.  Funny thing, the Grainger link is now working, but the Tripp Lite website I just visited an hour ago is now currently under maintenance!  www.tripplite.com/en/products/model.cfm?txtModelID=202

:duh:   My bad, not hospital grade, meaning of no interest to the average DIY fanatic.  Maybe mod could/should toss the thread.  My apology.

I feel vindicated having made my own strip, especially with the IEC receptacle, which I've never seen on such a product.

I think that the only things that "hospital grade" gets you over:
1.) Heavy Duty Industrial Spec Grade
2.) Industrial Spec Grade
3.) Spec Grade Commercial
Is lot's of documentation and corrosion resistance from wet washing.

Interesting assertion, but why would the lack of that green dot (hospital designation) on a plug and receptacle preclude its use in audio?

Edit: Ooops, I think Speedskater is asking the same question, with our posts crossing in the ether

What kind of blasphemy is this?

I just prefer the anti-corrosive characteristics of hospital grade.
