What'd I miss?
« on: 7 Oct 2011, 05:35 pm »
Hey All!

I now have a daily study hall that will allow me to get caught up with my buddies in the GAS gang.  Hopefully    :thumb:

I hope you are all still having hangs and going to record stores.

I have a daughter now and an amazing wife, Amanda.  Emma was born on June 8th.  Amanda and I were married in June two years ago.

AND....  I just got a set of the new KT120 tubes for my Rogue M-150 monos.  They are HUGE in the midrange.  I have them biased hot at 50ma now in triode mode.  They are running the mid and treble of my Maggie IIIAs that Steve Knarr helped me modify.

Question: how much variation is there in bias points in my situation?  I don't ever go really loud any more, but the maggies are still a very low ohm speaker.

The bass panels are run by a Crown K2 with a DBX Driverack 260 crossover with way too many options for me to mess up (360 degrees of phase on each channel, polarity, xo slopes out the wazoo, delay in milliseconds, etc)

Congrats on the new baby! although I think I remember a text from you announcing it   :thumb:

The new tubes sound pretty cool  :green:

On my end, WAY too much has changed to try and describe in detail here so here's the quick version. We completely remodeled the basement, did a total number on the back yard, the front yard is now getting the same treatment, I picked up some 211 mono blocks for the Lowthers (or the Tannoys...yep Tannoys), plus a few other things.

Oh, and I'm a grandpa and they're expecting their second next May :D

When you get a chance, give me a buzz and we can catch up.

Hey Mikey!
How's band directing treating you?

We've all given up audio and switched to wave radios, but we're happier overall.

Actually, some of us have fallen off the deep end of Lowthermania, but the Maggie group keeps adding new panels or even the 1.7 that Kent just got.  Bryan still has those enormous Acoustat monitors.

Man, you need to come down for a listening session.  We have tons of vinyl to spin and all manners of networked digital front ends to try.  (just don't bring any cds to Scott's-he's all hard drive now, baby)  You might also get a kick out of my no baffle Lowthers or some of Turbo's new Raal tweetered speakers he's manufacturing.  Lots of cool stuff going on even if we don't post about it enough.
