MBP + Halide Design Bridge

Mostly based on the very positive reviews, I recently picked up a S/H Halide Design Bridge USB to SPDIF converter.  MBP/Pure Music/Bridge is a fantastic combination.  Strongly recommended...

Just a follow-up to my earlier post.

My MacBook Pro (nothing tweaked) running Pure Music software + Halide Design Bridge is working wonderfully with Bryston BDA-1 DAC.  Red Book files are great.  Hires files are fantastic.

Based on my experience, I am very surprised that there isn't more talk about the Halide Design Bridge on forums.  Other than a few extremely positive magazine reviews over the past few years, the Bridge doesn't seem to come up often.

If you want to take your Mac based source performance to another level, the Bridge is well worth a look.  I had also had the opportunity to try a M2Tech HiFace in my system.  I greatly preferred the Bridge.

Why more companies don't replicate HBD's design scheme has been a mystery to me.
One of the big down sides of my Apple server system is the three piece connection consisting of:
Digital Cable
USB Converter
USB Cable
Besides being expensive, it's six different connectors compared to HDB's two.
I have lobbied VH Audio to provide a DIY solution and I hope they follow through with that.

There is a device called a USB DAC that substantially reduces connection apprehension. I hear the FireWire industry also has such a device: one cable and you're wired.
