I'm a Klipsch guy, always have been because I just like horns. (flame suit on) I stumbled across some and wondered if anyone here has any of the KLF series?

I've owned several sets of these (and most other Klipsch speakers, for that matter).  While the craftsmanship leaves a bit to be desired (at least in comparison to their heritage range of speakers), the KLF-20s sound excellent.  Very dynamic and they actually image pretty well.  If Klipsch could have put better internal bracing and superior cabinetry on them they would have been world beaters.  As it is, they are still excellent speakers and quite a bargain at the $500-600 you can often pick them up for (retail was around $1600 IIRC).  Happy listening...

I have the KLF series for my 5.1 (klf-30's, klf-c7, & ksp-s6's).  I too had problems with the 30's cabinets.  I ended up overhauling the entire cabinet (added internal bracing and polyfill), crossovers (Dean G's), and horn dampening (dynamatted the horns).  The end result sounds much better now!

:o  Looking at that cabinet quality is a sad sight, and your braces and deadening should make a huge difference.  It is hard to imagine why a manufacturer (esp. one with an old, respected name) would not spend the extra $5 to put in some bracing and dampening when it improves the product in such a major way.  You can't see everything from the photo, but the crossover components look like they skimped there as well.  Sad, sad, sad.

Here is a better pic of the crossover...still pretty sad LOL!

That's why I upgraded my 2 channel speakers to these:
