You're welcome. Goes to show the power of social networks. And great recordings of course.

Natuurlijk ken ik Channel al heeeeel lang. (sorry for this Dutch frivolity)

Groet!
Marijn

Nice. But like Linn, Channel Classics is in a pricing dilemma.

The hi-rez downloads are more expensive than the hybrid SACD (sold for 15€ and less in many online stores), which has to be priced competitively because it's a single inventory release.

Compared to the hi-rez PCM downloads, the cheaper SACD offers DSD playback from a DSD recording (most Channel recordings are DSD), multi-channel sound, and it can be resold.

He posted this over on the HIREZ Music forum (go figure) I moderate, and I chimed in there that Mahler's 2 and 4 (Ivan Fischer) are two of the best SACD's I've ever heard (I've posted that in a few forums).  I'd assume their downloads are also quite good.

I agree with ted about the mahler recordings, although I prefer some other performances....Still a bit of a dilemma these days. The best performances aren't necessarily the best recordings, or vice versa.

depending on your musical preferences there's a lot of nice Brahms/beethoven and the Bach's are well known recordings is this part of the world. Just try the chamber music and you just might feel tempted.

Have fun,
Marius
